The idea of creating the journal “Economics of Science” emerged in 2014 as a response to the new challenges facing domestic science administrators. The impetus for opening a forum for discussion on the pages of the journal was the state policy vector aimed at internationalizing Russian science and increasing the competitiveness of Russian universities.
The economic and geopolitical situation that developed by the end of 2022 has exacerbated the problem of updating the scientific and technological priorities of the country's development, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of using government budget funds for scientific research.
The Editorial Board believes that the discussion of current issues in management of scientific research will be of interest and benefit to a wide range of readers, particularly enabling them to make more informed and reasoned decisions in the face of stringent financial constraints.
