Author Guidelines

License agreement

  1. The manuscript must be submitted electronically in MS Word format (doc or .docx) via the website.
  2. Article length:
  • Original research articles – up to 40,000 characters (including spaces).
  • Review articles – up to 50,000 characters.
  • Short communications (under the "Discussion" section) – up to 30,000 characters.
  1. Required information:
  • Article title.
  • Authors’ names (initials and surname).
  • Affiliations: institution, address, and email for each author.
  • Abstract (150–300 words) must include the study’s purpose, objectives, methodology, results, and their significance for advancing the field or addressing practical challenges.
  • Keywords (at least 5 terms or phrases).
  • Funding statement. If no funding was received, please, state: “This study received no external funding.”
  • Journal section (selected from the provided list).
  • Article type (original research, review, or short communication).
  • JEL classification code.
  • Author details: academic degree, title, position (including department/laboratory), institution name, Scopus Author ID, ORCID, workplace address (country, postal code, city, street), and email.
  1. Structure:
  • Original research articles must include sections titled Introduction, Materials and Methods (or Methodology), Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The main text may be divided into thematic subsections.
  • Short communications may have a flexible structure but must include the study’s purpose, reasonong, and conclusions.
  1. Figures and tables:
  • Figures must be in a uniform style (monochrome preferred).
  • All figures and tables must be referenced in the text (e.g., “...as shown in Table 1, Figure 1”).
  • Table titles (in Russian and English) are placed above the table.
  • Figure captions (in Russian and English) are placed below the figure.
  • Data sources (if not original) must be noted the table or figure.
  1. Formulas:
  • Use the MS Word equation editor.
  • Formulas are numbered consecutively, with the number in parentheses on the right.
  1. For articles with multiple authors, contributions must be specified (see Authorship and Contributorship).
  2. Declare competing interests or state their absence (see Disclosure of Competing Interests).
  3. References and footnotes:
  • Follow APA 7th Edition for citations and references.
  • The reference list is sorted alphabetically.
  • Include DOIs where available; otherwise, provide URLs.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. You have read Author Guidelines.

  2. You are the copyright owner of the submitted research work. The article has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another title.

  3. Consent for publication of the article has been obtained from all co-authors.

  4. You have reviewed and accepted the terms of the License Agreement.

 

Copyright Notice

The author grants the journal “Economics of Science” the right to publish the article and to indicate it as the original publisher. All articles are published in open access under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY) license. The CC BY license allows the author to retain copyright and allows for a wide range of reuse, provided that the original work is cited.
The journal also welcomes the “green route” of open access, i.e., the authors' placement of preprints and postprints of articles in institutional repositories and other platforms. Special attention should be paid to resources such as Preprints, SocArXiv, and SSRN. The placement of data sets used in the article (with appropriate links) on resources such as Figshare and Mendely Data is also welcomed.

 

Privacy Statement

Specified data when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of contacting the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
